In Term 2 and 3, our Year 8 Science/Maths students competed in teams to design a new innovation for pedestrian level crossings using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) principles. The competition, involving students from across Australia, asked students to create a design to reduce the chances of injuries or fatalities occurring at pedestrian level crossings and make young people’s crossing experiences safer. They had to use design thinking to create an original device, then create a video pitch about their design. The stakes were high: huge prizes were on offer for the winning team, teacher and school. One group- Abbey, Amy, Shakira and Poppi had their video selected as the top 5 finalists!

To celebrate Rail Safety Week 2017, TrackSAFE asked the public to vote for their favourite design from the top 5 videos as the People’s Choice Award. The winning team was the video with the most ‘likes’.

Congratulations to Abbey, Amy, Shakira and Poppi from Year 8 winners of the People’s Choice Award!!

Congratulations to ex-students Anne Hatchard and Jessica Sedunary who have both been drafted in the Women's AFL League!

Wishing you all the best for the future!

Congratulations to teacher Dan Bleby who has won a Masters for Teachers scholarship offered by the Department for Education and Child Development to obtain his postgraduate degree! Dan works with the Wiltja Secondary College based at Windsor. He is studying a Masters at the University of South Australia with a focus on Indigenous languages. He was recently featured in The Advertiser for his success.

Congratulations!

On Tuesday 30th August, 4 Windsor students participating in the Aviation Club at WGSC were featured on the front page of the Education Lift Out within the Advertiser! The after-hours Club is run by our STEM Coordinator Matt Jamieson.

Great work everyone!

Congratulations to Windsor Year 12 student Jack who in the recent school holidays won the SA Time Trials for Drone Racing. This means that Jack has qualified for the National Drone Racing Competition to be held at the Gold Coast next month.

Should he place in the top 5 competitors in this event, he will then have the opportunity to go to Hawaii to compete in the Drone Racing World Championships later on this year!

Well Done Jack! We wish you all the best!
