Success Stories

Amber who studied Year 12 at WGSC in 2014 is a great role model for her family, friends and students at our college. Amber won Campbelltown Council’s NAIDOC Week Youth Achievement Award. The award, for people aged 12 to 25 who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, recognises those who act as role models for their peers.

Amber is of the Kaurna people and studying nursing at University and one day hopes to take up a career in paediatrics. Her goal is to help improve health services for Aboriginal people. Such a huge achievement to win this award, we are all very proud of her here at WGSC.

Congratulations Amber!

Sebastian McCallum-Boswell worked tirelessly in our Parndendi Café to achieve his Certificate II in Kitchen Operations while studying at WGSC. This entailed several out of hours functions and events, including cocktail parties at UniSA, the annual Youth Arts Awards at Carclew Youth Arts Centre, and official lunches for our Local Council. As part of his Year 12 Food and Hospitality program, Sebastian was also jointly responsible for the organisation and service of the Cheltenham Exchange welcome dinner.

Since graduating Sebastian has earned himself a well-deserved apprenticeship. He is currently working at the Maid of Auckland Hotel and continuing his training.

Paige was awarded the 2014 Indigenous scholarship from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield! Congratulations Paige!
