On Thursday the 17th of September the WGSC Auslan Signing Choir and the Windsor Stage Band were selected to perform at the Festival of Music. Together the students preformed the song 'Funky Town' . The Signing Choir also performed the Australian Anthem to open the event. We are so proud of all of the students involved, they did an amazing job! Earlier this month The Messenger heard about our story and featured the students in their paper! As this is the first time in the events history that a signing choir and stage band have combined to play and sing together. Great work everyone!
The Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO and Mrs Lan Le hosted a reception at Government House for the Ice Factor Program. All sixteen South Australian Ice Factor teams attended the event. The Windsor Warriors were proudly represented by Caleb Branson, Carly Harris, Luke Burford, Kris Edwards and Brooke Mellor.
The Governor spoke of his early years and the hardships he has encountered. He is a great example of how to rise above the difficult things in life and make yourself successful. Kris, along with other team representatives, responded to the Governor, thanking him for his kindness and generosity.
It was a wonderful experience to explore Government House, to be greeted individually by the Governor and his wife, to see the library with the Proclamation of South Australia, to enjoy the spaciousness of the ballroom, to sit in the comfort of the lounge rooms and see the many paintings including Kings and Queens of earlier times.
We remain indebted to Marie Shaw QC who negotiates so much for the young people in the Ice Factor Program. The Windsor students were exemplary in their presentation and participation.
Windsor Gardens Secondary College entered a Category 2 team into the 2015 UniSA AUSTRALIAN HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE SUPER SERIES. The Pedal Prix team has had a great start to the year with a mid table finish in Round 2. Students trained hard twice a week for the race held on Sunday 26th of July at Victoria Park Racecourse. Thank you to our sponsors such as Cavpower - CAT, Cleveland Freightlines and High Gloss Solid Plastering who are big supporters of the team. We will be looking to have more fundraisers in the lead up to the big 24 hour race at Murray Bridge, so keep your eye out for future Sausage Sizzle's and raffles! Fantastic work to all students and staff involved in the event!
